When You Face Temptation
Series: Other
Temptation challenges our trust in the Lord. It causes us to ask whether God's provision, plan, and/or protection can be trusted. In Luke 4:1-13, Jesus demonstrated trust in God's provision, plan, and protection in the face of temptation.

When you face temptation, turn to Jesus! He's been there. He's qualified. He's promised to help. His grace is sufficient.

An Eternal Weight Of Glory: Eternal Reward
    Series: Other
As a summary application to his teaching on eternity, Paul explains how Christians should seek to please the Lord in light of the coming judgment. Looking elsewhere in the Scriptures, we find that the Judgment Seat of Christ is focused on the gracious bestowal of eternal reward. So, make it your goal to please the Lord. Be motivated by your eternal reward and don't give up!

An Eternal Weight Of Glory: Life After Death
    Series: Other
What happens after we die? In 2 Corinthians 5:6-8, Paul explains that, for Christians, death is a transition into Christ's presence. The transition happens immediately at the moment one dies. Understanding this, our eternal hope in Christs shapes our attitudes about death and life. Have confidence with respect to life after death. Don't give up following Jesus in your life before death.

An Eternal Weight Of Glory: Our Bodies
    Series: Other
In 2 Corinthians 5, Paul unpacks the future "eternal weight of glory" that is presently unseen but upon which followers of Jesus are to fix their eyes, especially in the context of our physcial bodies wasting away as we experience affliction in this life.

One aspect of that eternal weight of glory is the eternal, imperishable body that Christians will be guaranteed after death. Christians will receive this glorified body, a transformation of our current physical bodies, during the resurrection at Christ's return.

This doctrine highlights the importance of our body, and challenges us to live out a good theology of the body now.

    – Realize that your body is an important part of being human.
So, watch your language. Your body is a critical component of the "real" you and the "ultimate healing" is not death, but rather, resurrection.
Take care of the body you have by not accelerating its decay through foolish decisions.
Finally, look forward to your glorified body. Even as you current body is "wasting away," this very fact should remind that a more glorious future awaits the follower of Jesus in accordance with the promises and grace of God.

When You’re Trying To Get Through To The Lord (Part 2)
After David appealed to the Lord on the basis of God's justice in Psalm 17:1-5, David appealed to the Lord on the basis of God's love in Psalm 17:1-6. David knew that the Lord would keep His promises and that He had come through in the past. David depended on the Lord and was confident that the Lord cared for him. So, David believed that the Lord wouldn't just stand by and do nothing. Finally, David hoped in a glorious future with the Lord.

So, consider God's love as you approach your heavenly Father in prayer. You can trust Him to keep His promises. You can count on His parental care. You can hope in a glorious future in His presence.

When You’re Trying To Get Through To The Lord (Part 1)
David appealed to the Lord on the basis of a blameless life. David was relating to the Lord through the theological framework that our sin can hinder our prayers. So, consider your sin as you approach a holy God in prayer.
